Why Do You Need This Course?
An effective, comprehensive and proactive security strategy can help prevent an attack similar to the ones we have seen in recent history from occurring in your institution. These strategies focus highly on prevention but also include an immediate response element for addressing incidents within seconds when they do occur.
In order to implement this kind of security strategy it is imperative to switch the mindset and modus operandi of the traditional security service providers from focusing mostly on ‘theft, loss prevention and maintaining order’ operations to an overall security approach that includes protection from terrorism, active shooter situations and the like. Further, a Risk, Threat & Vulnerability Assessment (RTVA) has to be in place and periodically updated to keep the system relevant.
Once the security team is trained and ready, the next crucial step in implementing the type of security described above is to educate and then activate the organization’s regular staff. They become essential force multipliers that are embedded in your venues and can spot, report and sometimes act on suspicious activity greatly enhancing the prevention efforts.
Presently, this kind of preventive strategy is not yet very common in US commercial and hospitality venues. The fact is that, today, a potential attacker can easily gain access to a hotel, a shopping mall and many other public venues and wander around unchecked, undisturbed and frankly unnoticed. Given the fact most of the attacks require a great deal of preparation, typically including scouting of potential targets and collecting pre-attack intelligence on the type of security measures in place, security awareness of the staff becomes extremely important in deterring and detecting such hostile activities.
The goal of these strategies is to convert your venue into a ‘bad selection’ for any potential attack – in the eyes of the attacker – due to the implementation of prevention elements and high security awareness of the staff (hard target).
In an effort to be better prepared before the next attack, we created our Preventing and Mitigating the Next Attack course. Our goal is to empower the commercial and hospitality service providers in our local communities with prevention and life-saving skills so they can better cope with these unfortunate yet recurrent incidents.
Our team brings many years of experience in the fields of security, intelligence and critical decision making. This experience stems from the challenges associated with the national security of the State of Israel. This course is presented by two experienced security professionals who had an important role in the resolution of various of those challenges.
